ME: Hi Rahul, it’s nice to have you here, can you kindly introduce yourself to our readers
Rahul: Always glad to be here Joseph
I’m a fulltime blogger. Though I run several blogs which make me decent income, my major blog is Learn Blog Tips where I share my personal views, strategies and tips to build a profitable blog in the long run.
ME: I have known you for a while now & I know you are a great Blogger; how did you get into the blogging business?
Rahul: For me, blogging is passion.
I can spend even 20 hrs/day to learn something to improve my IM skills. Though I’ve been blogging since 2007, I never realized the importance of online branding. In 2012, I started my first professional blog LBT to build a brand for myself.
ME: To start with, what is Blog Readership?
Rahul: There’s a cardinal rule of advertising, known as “advertising rule of 7” – people need to see the same ad seven times in order to buy.
So according to me, driving massive traffic to blogs isn’t called blog readership. You need to convert your readers to customers. The only way is to do that is through your content and writing skills. Make sure you’re spending enough time to engage with your readers and peers. You’ll start noticing the results sooner or later.
To build loyal readership, encourage your readers to take some action after reading your posts and it can be anything from leaving a comment to sharing your posts from buying your affiliate products to becoming a lifetime fan for your blog.
ME: How do you get readers to your blog?
Rahul: In the initial days, I used to comment on a lot of blogs that are related to my niche.
After few months, I noticed the importance of social media and started spending quality time to engage with others. Now, I’m getting huge traffic from search engines for many competitive keywords.
ME: How can a newbie blogger get readers to his Blog?
Rahul: Blog commenting, posting consistently and social media can get you enough readers to take your blog to the next level.
The key is to be consistent. And don’t open your traffic stats each and every minute.
ME: Is social media effective for building blog readership?
Rahul: Yes, unless you’re addicted to seeing useless stuff like “who is liking my photos” each and every minute
ME: Do you think Guest blogging helps to get more readers to our blog?
Rahul: It’s a relative thing. Guest blogging won’t work if your blogging objectives are not clear.
Ask yourself this question before diving into guest blogging world.
What do I really want from guest blogging? Is it traffic, links or branding.
ME: Which methods do you prefer & recommend when it comes to building blog readership?
Rahul: As I said earlier in the post, blog commenting and social media helps a lot to build blog readership.
- Consistent guest blogging and
- Your WRITING SKILLS (make your writing so simple that even a 3rd grade student should understand what you’re saying)
ME: Is there anything like loyal readers or just a myth?
Rahul: There are only two types of readers.
- Impatient readers
- Loyal readers
There’s no use of type 1 readers. They don’t share your posts, they don’t leave comments and they don’t buy!
Loyal readers are the ones who listen to you, who shares your stuff, who buys stuff from you.
ME: What is the difference between regular readers and loyal readers?
Rahul: “Taking action.”
Regular readers leave your blog after reading (they don’t take any action)
Loyal readers share your posts after reading (or buy if you show them something valuable).
ME: How much does the success of a blog depend on its readership base?
Rahul: Not all blogs are the same. There are many niches which doesn’t require any readership (traffic is sufficient – more traffic = more money).
But for the evergreen niches like, SEO/SEM, blogging, IM etc. you need loyal readership to boost your blogging income.
Without helping others, you can’t make even a penny (at least it happened for me).
ME: Is there any quick and easy way to get more blog readers?
ME: What do you think can really attract readers to a blog?
Rahul: Content that has 2 factors
- Extremely interesting (impressive writing skills) and
- Which is full of actionable tips (where the readers can immediately apply them after reading the posts)
ME: Does a blog design and look have any effect on getting more blog readers?
Rahul: “First impression is the last impression” in blogging.
If your blog design is not appealing, forget about the readership.
Readers will leave your blog if you make it extremely hard to read.
Make your font size good enough to read (14 to 16 px) and don’t declutter your blog design. Simple is sexy in design.
And yea, your logo and loading time also counts.
ME: What is your take on using Advertising as a mean of building a blog readership?
Rahul: Advertising works well if you know the art of selling without hurting your readership.
ME: Do you think posting/publishing frequency affect a blog’s readership?
Rahul: Uff.. I think I’m not the right person to answer this.
I myself never worried about posting frequency.
My last article on LBT was published 3 months back. Reason? I always want to give something UNIQUE and extremely useful to my readers.
If someone’s sending your frequent messages on “please post something on your blog” – you’re succeeded and people are really missing your content. And I get a lot of them each and every week.
ME: If you are to start from scratch, how will you drive readers to your blog?
Rahul: Good question. 3 ways.
- I’ll focus on writing SEO content from day 1
- I’ll write guest posts every month and
- I’ll maintain a proper and strict posting schedule
ME: Thanks for your time Rahul; to finish off, how can our readers connect with you?
Rahul: Connect with me on
