Hiya! It’s been a while I published a post here, it’s not that I got nothing to say, it’s just that I have not been in my blogging mood lately and am also trying to learn new things!
That said; let’s get into the main business of today.
If you want to stay relevant in your blog niche, you need to keep improving your blogging skills, you need to keep learning and acquiring the knowledge that will give you an edge over your competitors.
Blogging is not I know all things! A lot of new ideas and methods are springing up every day that is why you need to keep an open mind and stay on the learning curve if you don’t want to be left behind.
If you are one of those that want to improve your blogging skills, then this post is for you. There are a lot of things that you can do to become a better blogger, but today, I will be sharing with you 5 of those things that can make you a better blogger.
Without much ado, let me show you how to improve your blogging skills.
1. Use Social Media Wisely
Social media is a very very very powerful tool, if harnessed properly; it can turn you into a great blogger.
Social media sites like Facebook, Twitter and Google+ are great places to get new information and stay on top of trends in the blogosphere but if care is not taken, social media can be a source of great distractions and a big time waster.
If you want to be a better blogger, you need to learn how to use social media wisely. You should not spend your entire day on these and if you are using any social media sites, you should use it with a purpose.
I personally spend a lot of time on Facebook compared to any other social networking sites I use because I have a lot of friends there and a lot of interactions with me occur there.
From my experience as a blogger, my best recommendation will always be twitter. Why? Because you can easily stay at the edge of the learning curve by using twitter because a lot of information and breaking news are mostly shared on twitter plus there is a limit to the noise on twitter unlike other social networking sites.
If you want to improve your blogging skills, you should use social media as a source of information, you should use it as a medium to know what is happening in the blogosphere and you can only achieve this by connecting with relevant people in your niche.
So go out there and connect with bloggers in your niche, follow them closely so that you can learn from them and build a strong relationship with them.
2. Read Other Blogs
Some bloggers think reading other blogs is a waste of time but that is very far from the truth.
There is no way you can learn new tips, learn new strategies and find out what is working for others if you don’t visit their blogs. No man is an island of knowledge and the amount of information you consume is proportional to the amount of knowledge you have.
If you want to be a better blogger, you need more knowledge and more knowledge comes from learning and how do you learn? By reading other blogs and stealing their strategies
The best thing about stealing is that you will modify their strategies and no one will ever know you stole it.
I have gained a lot from reading other blogs and I believe you too can gain a lot doing the same. If you want to be a better blogger, you should start reading other blogs especially your competitors’ blog
3. Join Blog Communities and Forums
A blog community is a place to connect, interact and learn from other bloggers.
There are a bunch of blog communities that you can join out there, this will help you to gather information and stay up to date with happenings in your niche.
I use a few blog communities and Facebook group to learn more and improve myself and I have always found this group and communities helpful.
One of the main reasons I like blogging forums and communities is because they are less noisy and you can get valuable + targeted answers to your questions. You will get targeted information about things since the forums are usually grouped into categories and sub categories.
4. Buy Books and Resources on Blogging
There is no doubt that there are a lot of FREE Epic information & blog posts out there, but it is good to invest into your blogging education once in a while.
Most top bloggers do share their secrets and methods, but believe me; no one shares it all for free! That is why they usually create paid products to sell to those who are willing to get a deeper insight into their knowledge and techniques.
Most of these eBooks and resources are quite affordable, they usually sell for as low as $15 – $20 which to me is damn cheap compared to the amount of knowledge that you stand to gain from it.
I have my own collection of blogging books and resources from other top bloggers that I flip through at will. Sometimes I use them to get headline ideas for my blog posts or I may just read through to sharpen my mind!
If you really want to be a better blogger, investing in good books and resources is really a smart thing to do, believe me, buying books and resources is one of the secrets the Probloggers don’t share!
Here are some recommended books for you:
5. Write Regularly
Blogging is basically writing, and as you know, practice brings about perfection. The more you write the better writer you become.
The only reason why anyone will visit your blog is to read what you have to share and the only thing that will keep them coming is still your content!
As you have known that writing is a very crucial aspect of blogging, it is very important that you write regularly in order to improve your writing skills and impress your readers.
I usually recommend writing at least three (3) times a week on your blog or on other blogs and as time goes on, writing will become a simple thing to you and you will be churning out great posts in few hours.
Becoming a better blogger takes time and dedication. If you have to keep engaging in activities that will help improve your blogging skills if you want to become one of the best blogger in your chose niche.
I hope this post helps someone, if you have any questions or additional tips, kindly drop them in the comments.
