4 Good Reasons Why You Should Use Images in Your Blog Posts

Do you usually use images in your blog posts?

OR

Are you one of those bloggers that rarely use images in your blog posts?

No matter the category you fall into from above, you will surely find some nuggets in today’s post.

wordpress-265132_640

Well, if you are an avid reader of BTT, you would have observed that there no article on this blog without at least one image attached to it. This is not because I have any kind of addiction or phobia for images, but this is because images are an essential part of any article.

In this era of blogging and internet marketing, usage of images in blog post should not be a matter of choice but of neccessity.

It is now compulsory that you include at least one image in any blog post you want to publish in your blog because of some cool reasons that I will be sharing with you shortly.

There are various reasons why people use images in their articles. I have my own reasons too and that is what I will be sharing with you today.

And I hope that at the end of reading this post, if you have not been using images in your articles, you will see reasons to use images in your blog posts and if you have been using images, you will see reasons why you should keep using images in your blog posts.

Without much ado, let’s see why you should use images in your blog posts.

#1 – Images makes Contents Beautiful

Take away images from a blog posts and all you have is just blatant text filling up a page.

An image brightens up your content and makes it look more appealing especially if you are using colorful images.

Adding images to various parts of your article adds a particular kind of beauty and appealing look which makes your content better and sticky for your readers.

Seeing a long page of content without images to spice it up can easily bore your readers, but adding one or two related images or funny images takes away the boredom and makes your content beautiful and lively!

#2 – Images Grabs Attention

Signal_attentionTo be sincere with you, this morning before I wrote this post, I actually read an article shared by one of my facebook friends’ just beause of the image.

The image has a young girl by the right and a descriptive text to the left side of the image. This image prompted me to click the link to read the full article.

Whether you like it or not, the truth remains that images are attention grabbers, images will attract more readers to your blog more than texts will do. If this werent so, websites like Pinterest will not be getting millions of visits per day.

If you are one of those bloggers struggling to get more visibility and social shares for your contents, I will recommend you take a look at your blog post images, check to see if they are of good quality and attractive.

If your blog post images are not attractive enough, they may not get you the visibility and social shares that you desire.

There are a lot of places to find high quality and attractive images, one of such places is Depositphotos.com, and you can get beautiful images from there with ease.

#3 – Images Can Bring You More Traffic

Do you know that images can be a source of good traffic to your blog?

Google image search records over a billion page views per day, this shows that Google image search can be a source of good traffic to your blogs if we know how to take advantage of the opportunity it presents. This shows that people do search for images aggressively.

If you have done your blog image SEO properly, and you use beautiful images in your articles, there is a great chance of ranking your image high in Google images search engine and you inturn get a bunch of new visitors on a daily basis.

P.S. –I have written a detailed guide on How to do Image SEO; you should check it out for more guidance regarding Seo for Images.

#4 – Images give Better Illustrations

Images do far better iluustrations than text.

If yo are a blogger that writes how-to guides or tutorials, it is very important that you use images and screenshots to describe your point and procedures.

I have seen a couple of how-to guides out there but they are just plain texts with no image illustartions of the steps taken in these guides.  When I decide to try out their tutorials, I get stuck and I eventually get angry and look for another tutorial that will solve my problem.

No matter how smart or clever you are, Texts illustrations can never be better than image illustrations; sometimes putting texts and some graphics together to form an image is all you need to do the trick.

This is the concept behind infographics and we all know how well they perform. So, I will recommed you start using images for your illustartions from today onward.

Conclusion

Images are an important aspect of any blog posts and you should not publish a blog post without including at least one image in it.

I know you want to share your thoughts, so why do you use images in your blog posts?

Kindly share your opinion in the comments.

Hi Josy, i quite agree with your four points here, the use of images in blog post is a very good and result yielding practice.

I use to ignore it with the reason that it makes blog loads slowly, but now i know better; your blog can still load faster if your images are well inserted.

Thanks for sharing this.

    Hi Emebu,
hmmm.. yea, Images used to slow websites down, but I guess that was in the past. There are a thousand ways by which you can now optimize images and also your blog for faster loading even if you are putting a gallery in your blog post.
Am happy you agree with my four points, thanks for reading and commenting.

Image. If I will describe this into words the perfect words will be, awesome, memorable, remarkable, emotion and useful.

The title itself reminds me of my art class. Images or arts convey emotion and memory, it would be remarkable.

Therefore, I can say it is a good reason why we should use images on our blog posts. It’s a stamp for a blog post, I believe.

On your point of view, I agree with four reasons.

I found this post shared on Kingged.com, the Internet marketing social site, and I “kingged” it and left this comment.

The use of images on blog posts is definitely beneficial. The important thing is for the blogger to use images right and timely. Images helps to clarify the message shared in the text, they help to narrow down the imaginative of the reader, and they truly help to authenticate a post.

For most bloggers, using the right image helps in search engine optimization. So, I completely agree with the reasons shared in this post about using images on blog posts.

I have shared this comment in kingged.com where this post was found and “kingged” for its value to Internet marketers.

Images are the heart of the post as those have the potential to attract the visitors with quick seconds. Using relevant images will boost up the content written.

Traffic is the key thing one can get from image searches, also the content can be pinned on by users, resulting in more shares.

The content seems dry, if there isn’t any visuals in it, so nice to have an image.

Anyway, I found this article on Kingged.

Hey Joseph,

This is called remarkable article. You covered a highly needed information or the reason behind using Images in Blog Posts. I completely agree with your all these 4 reason you provided in this article. Specially “Images makes Contents Beautiful” and “Images Grabs Attention”.

According to me Images are the best way to present whatever we want to show and describe to our readers. But yeah only if we include images wisely in blog post. Sometimes it goes a negative impression on blog when readers goes confused due to lots of images, so we try to add images according to content requirement.

Thanks for sharing this great information. I found this useful post on kingged.com and became attracted to read full post. I loved it :)

Hi Joseph, I couldn’t agree with you more, as a reader, I really appreciate images that illustrate points and break up text. As a blogger I value images for teaching and for drawing people to my articles. You made very good points and I would add Pinterest to the sharing possibilities. Pinterest sends me more traffic than Twitter and Facebook combined.

Hi, Joseph!

The images are powerful. As what a cliché statement says, “A picture is worth a thousand words…”

Images attract readers, since humans are visual-oriented being. That is also the reason why people are easily attracted to visual content, and why visual content is the most shareable content online.

I must agree with you that the images make your content much more visually interesting, grab your readers’ attention, can help to bring more traffic and can be a better illustration than texts.

You’re absolutely right with all your insights with regard to this topic.

Thanks for the post! I’ve indeed had a good read.

Images are attractive to the eyes. Blog post without an image usually ignored, especially if the headline sucks, or if they are not persuasive enough to drive new visitors.

Images give Better Illustrations – Images are indeed can give better illustrations. On billboards, in magazines, on bus placards, they come in the mail and in our Sunday newspapers etc.

They are so compelling that we cannot not watch them.

I cannot agree ore with the four reasons. Lastly, I must say, they are so seductive that they have revolutionized human social communication.

Images are the preface to a blog post. Someone may not be interested in reading the blog post. But if we use an image at the beginning of the post and if that can attract the reader then obviously he is going to read the whole article and may be he will become regular reader. Thanks for pointing out some important things about using images on blog post..

Absolutely! A visual can sure add a lot of impact to a blog. Adding an image or creative work to your web page or post can make a big difference on the impact of your message. It also helps to bring traffic from Google Images and Pinterest, which is a plus point :)

However, I would also like to add that many people are using a copyrighted image without permission from the creator of the work or the copyright holder is copyright infringement. Its a mistake that most new bloggers make.

I always insert images in my blog posts so I can pin them to my Pinterest boards afterwords for bigger exposure. We are not reading any more. Not really. We are browsing and pictures and visual effects are grabbing and holding our attention so we can actually process a written information. Because nowadays it’s not picture that’s attached to the text – it’s vise-verso.
